Low Poly Weave
For your final project, your directions were to choose one of three portrait styles, (mark-making, low-poly, or glitch) and digitally “weave” it with the original photo. What style did you choose and why?
I chose to do the low poly style because it contrasts better with the original photo and it is more recognizable in the weave.
What tools did you primarily use for this project?
I used the polygonal lasso tool and blur average to make the tones of each triangle and to make the process quicker I recorded the procedure by making an action.
What were some of the challenges you faced during this project?
The biggest challenge was in the weaving process because it was difficult to distinguish which part of the strips that made had to go under or over the strips that went in another direction.
In some cases, weaving two portraits together can be challenging because major details, like facial features, can become confusing or even lost in the process. Was this a challenge for you? Do you think you were successful with your weave technique? Why?
Yes it was difficult because when the colors get darker it is harder to distinguish which parts get a shadow or not. I think I still need to improve this technique but I will say that I put all my effort into trying to achieve a good weave.
