Retail bag design

  1. How do you believe your design relates to the corporate Identity of your company?

The striped background is typical to see on a victoria secret retail bag but I changed the color from pink to two different red stripes in order to make it match the Christmas season. I also think the wings that are on the bag relate to the company because the models of said company are called victoria secret angels.

  1. How does your bag portray the “holiday”?

The striped background is typical to see on a victoria secret retail bag but I changed the color from pink to two different red stripes in order to make it match the Christmas season. The wings also match the holiday because it is a holy symbol that many recognize.

  1. Do you think that the company you designed for would really use your bag? Why or why not?

I think it is a good design but it may not use it because the cost of the bag would be higher for them than the one they have right now because the bag I made has an inside color. They would use it but they would take away the inside color.

  1. What makes your bag Unique and Different?

It is completely different from any design victoria secret has made with the exception of the logo. I also think the inside of the bag is nice because although it is just a solid color it is a skin color so it kind of alludes to the exposure of the female body victoria secret promotes.

  1. Describe the process in which you took to create the bag? (From beginning to end)

The first thing I did was to draw various sketches on paper and once I analyzed different options I started my project on the computer.

When I started my digital design I first had to decide on what type and color of background I wanted for my bag. I ended choosing a striped background with two types of red because it stayed similar to victoria secret’s retail bag but not completely similar because it is a holiday edition retail bag, so that people could still recognize the company but still see the innovation the company is making.

Next I had to actually make the graphic design for the bag. I started out with the silhouette of a curvy woman and image traced it. I used the victoria secret logo (Which I also image traced) to make a thong out of the letter V and placed it on the rear end of the silhouette. I image traced a photo of angel wings and placed them on the back of the silhouette. I later changed this completely because the design was to detailed for such a small retail bag. Instead I image traced just a simple image of angel wings and the victoria secret logo and the words “Victoria Secret” and placed it in the middle of the front and the back of the bag. With the angel wings, I dispersed them randomly, first by making it into a symbol and then symbol spraying my bag.

After the design of the bag was done it was printed out and cut with a machine in order to make not only cuts but also folding lines. Then I had to start to assemble the bag. First I used a gluing spray on the front side of the design and glued the front and back together. I started folding the bag and gluing the bottom and sides with double sided tape. Finally I added red ribbons as handles.
